Mark Hawthorne on his upcoming book, “Bleating Hearts,” and Nava Atlas on the art of healthy vegan cooking
We also talk with Nava Atlas, founder of VegKitchen.com and author of numerous vegan and vegetarian cookbooks, including “Wild about Greens,” “Vegan Holiday Kitchen,” and “Vegan Express.” Nava also writes articles on healthful cooking with natural foods, which have appeared in Vegetarian Times, VegNews and many other publications. In addition to her food writing, she also produces visual books on family themes, humor, and women’s issues, and is an active fine artist. Her artwork, which sometimes portrays social commentary on food animals and society, can be viewed at navaatlasart.com.
In addition, we discuss why superfoods are not so super for the animals who undergo cruel and unnecessary tests in manufacturer’s attempts to make health claims, let you know how you can help memorialize the 46 million turkeys that are killed and consumed each year during Thanksgiving, tell you why Queen guitarist Brian May is fighting for badgers in Britain, and discuss a new survey that you can take to be included in a worldwide count of vegans.
