In today’s show, Bend resident Kristin Luck tells us the story of how a chance meeting, just prior to her breast cancer diagnosis, prompted her to take an active role in her own treatment plan and dramatically transform her health by adopting a plant-based diet.

We also talk with Angeline Rhett and her son Simon, of Angeline’s Bakery in Sisters, where for the past 15 years, Angeline has run a thriving cafe serving up lots of creative raw vegan dishes and tempting vegan baked goods.

Kristin travels frequently for work and she gives tips on how to eat vegan no matter where you find yourself. She also talks about why she loves starting each day with a green smoothie and beginning each meal with a big green salad.

VegNet Bend monthly meeting and potluck: 6p, February 22, The Environmental Center, 16 NW Kansas, Bend. Bring a vegan dish, your recipe, and a place setting. This month, several short 3 to 5 minute videos will be shown: some funny, some informative, including one on fat-free food labels and what that really means. It’s free and open to everyone – come join in the fun!
